李清茂（1884～1946）原籍广东。1906年毕业于美国Pennsylvania大学，毕业后在美国任眼耳鼻喉科医师，1916年返国，1921年受聘为北京协和医学院专任眼科医师、襄教授、眼科代理主任，先后共11年。 是我国第一位专任眼科教授。最早用中文为国人讲课，培训眼科医生。译有《梅氏眼科学》传世。

Dutch ophthalmologist and geneticist, born on June 3, 1886.He died in 1979.Following medical research at the university of Utrecht, Petrus Johannes Waardenburg received training in ophthalmology and a doctorate in his thesis on the genetic basis of the physiological and pathological characteristics of the eye.Genetic eye diseases are a particular area of interest to him.At the age of 66, he published a landmark two-volume book, the genetics of ophthalmology, with professor adolph franchitte (1896-1968) and professor David klein (1908-).Waardenburg syndrome: an inherited congenital defect that includes pigmentation, epicanthus and lateral shift of the lacrimal point, and deafness.

British physician and neurologist, born 31st October, 1886, Geelong, Victoria, Australia; died 17th March, 1935. William John Adie was born in the harbour city of Geelong, west of Melbourne on the southern coast of Australia. He received his first education at Flinder’s School, but at the age of 13 he had to leave school in order to support the family, as his father had died in 1899. He worked as an errand runner in an office. One of his employers recognised his capacity for learning and paid evening courses for him. Thus he was able to pass the examination necessary for university entry. One of his topics was German, which had had learned mostly from visiting sailors. It was a practician in his native city, Dr. Arthur South, who inspired Adie to embark on a medical career.Adie had great intellectual gifts and he was an acute clinical observer and a fine teacher. He was also a kindly, modest, approachable man and he was held in high regard by his students. He lived an active life and had many interests. In particular, he was a keen ornithologist and tennis player and he enjoyed skiing and skating during his holidays in Switzerland. His greatness and popularity is well mirrored in the numerous and extensive obituaries in British Medical Journal and Lancet, among many. In his native town the youth who had accomplished so much on the other side of the earth was not forgotten. The daily newspaper Geelon Advertiser wrote a long obituary under the title ”Geelong boy who made good in London.” With his friend and mentor, James Collier Adie was responsible for the section on neurology in Price’s Textbook of Practical Medicine.

Turkish dermatologist, born on February 20, 1889, Istanbul; died on March 8, 1948. Behçet's most important contribution to the medical literature is the monograph "Clinical and Practical Syphilis, Diagnosis and Related Skin Diseases" published in 1940. Each page of the book contains an aspect of syphilis and footnotes and provides a wealth of detailed information about the differential diagnosis of other dermatological conditions. Although the book is outdated, it retains its value and spirit in the medical field and is the only example of the field. Behçet syndrome: a recurrent systemic disease characterized by uveitis with anterior chamber empyema, recurrent ulceration of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa, and genital ulcers.

毕华德，眼科学家、医学教育家、中国现代眼科学的主要奠基人。对眼屈光学有特殊的研究，著有《眼屈光学》 。他所建立的诊断、处理方法，至今仍为人们所遵循。对沙眼、淋病性眼炎、梅毒性眼炎以及青光眼、白内障等都有深入研究。在北京协和医院首倡用汉语讲课。他是中国第一位西医眼科医师，又将中医眼科学用英语在外文杂志上发表，以宏扬祖国医学。创建中国最早的眼科学会，并创刊《中华眼科杂志》 。

Swiss ophthalmologist, born in 1891, died in 1968. Marc Amsler is a student at Jules Gonin of the University of Lausanne and a representative of Gonin's idea of retinal detachment repair. He succeeded Gonin as a professor of ophthalmology at Lausanne in 1935 and became a professor at the University of Zurich in 1944. He is a pioneer in the study of uveitis aqueous humor and is interested in monitoring the symptoms of the macula in retinal diseases. Amsler's sign: bleeding from applanation tonometry and cataract Fuch's metachromatic iridocyclitis (FHI) surgery. It was once considered a feature of FHI and was previously used as a diagnostic and validation test for patients with suspected FHI.

字墨泉，奉天(今辽宁)辽阳人，1893年(清光绪十九年)生。1917年，毕业于私立奉天医科大学。曾留学英国、奥地利、日本，1920年代初，开展青光眼、白内障等眼科手术。回国后，任奉天医科大学讲师、教授，辽宁医学院(1945年8月由伪满“医科大学”改建。1948年迁北平)院长。中华人民共和国成立后，历任中国医科大学儿科系副主任、教授，附属第二医院眼科主任，中华医学会眼科学会副主任委员。1968年逝世。终年75岁。著有《实用眼科学》、《实用眼科手术学》。

林文秉(1893～1969)，宁波人。1915年就读于上海哈佛医学校。次年该校解散转入美国哈佛大学医学院。1920年毕业，获学院最高荣誉——金钥匙奖，并授予医学博士学位。同年回国后在北京协和医院眼科工作。1935年至1937年在奥地利维也纳大学医学院专攻眼科病理学，获眼科博士学位。 曾任北京协和医学院教授、南京中央医院眼科主任、上海医学院教授。1950年受聘为上海军医大学(今第二军医大学)教授、眼科教研室主任。兼任中华眼科学会副主任委员，《中华眼科杂志》、《解放军医学杂志》编委，1952年在军医大学创建中国第一个眼科病理室。 1963年编著出版60万字的《眼科病理解剖学》，为国内第一部眼科学专著，获1978 年全国科学大会重大科技成果奖。

唐亮臣(1893～1965)，江苏南汇人。幼随父学中医眼科，兼习内、外、儿、妇各科，后独立行医。曾执教于上海国医学院、新中国医学院。为神州医学会、中医协会、国医公会执行委员。解放后，任上海市公费医疗第五门诊部眼科主任、眼耳鼻喉科医院中医眼科顾问。1955年受北京中医研究院之聘，历任西苑医院、广安门医院眼科主任，中华医学会眼科学会副主任委员，《中华眼科杂志》副总编辑、《眼科全集》编委等职。

王承烈（1896-1977），字承乌，别号少齐。杭县人。1927年毕业于国立同济大学医学院。 曾任上海德国宝隆医院医师。1935年入德国柏林大学医学院眼耳鼻喉科学习。1937年获柏林大学医学博士学位。后获匈牙利布达佩斯大学眼科博士。曾任德国汉堡大学医学院眼科医院医师。 1939年回国后任国立同济大学医学院教授。同年在云南昆明昆华医院(今云南省第一人民医院)创立眼科。1944年后在昆明自行开业行医。新中国成立后出任云南省第一人民医院主任医师。

先后在北京协和医学院、上海医学院任眼科主任、教授、教务主任等职。解放后，历任上海市卫生局眼科顾问、上海市第六人民医院眼科主任、上海市卫生干部进修学院院长、上海市医学专科学校校长、中华医学会眼科学会副主任委员，中华医学会上海分会副会长、《中华眼科杂志》副总编辑等职。并被选为全国第四、五届政协委员、上海市第二、三、四届人民代表。周氏是国内现代眼科学奠基人之一。早在民国26年当选为中华医学会眼科学会主任委员，负责编辑《中华医学杂志》，审定《眼科名词汇》，并在国内外发表学术论著，于眼科界颇具影响。在国内外医学界享有较高声誉。在上海第六人民医院工作时，首创角膜移植先例。

石增荣，1897年9月生，奉天辽阳（今辽宁省辽阳市）人。1914年回国，以优异成绩考入奉天南满医学堂公费生，1920年毕业留校。1923年留学日本，于京都帝国大学医学部专攻眼科。留学4年，先后发表了《正常人水晶体的理化研究》等14篇论文。 1926年由日本文部省授予医学博士学位，被接纳为日本眼科学会会员。1927年回国，任南满医学堂附属医院眼科医师、吉长铁路医院院长兼眼科主任等职。1928年携眷来哈，任哈尔滨医学专门学校眼科教授。1945年“八一五”日本投降后，石增荣参加革命工作，为中国医科大学第二分校附属医院眼科博士。1949年改任哈尔滨医科大学附属医院眼科主任。 1964年受全国眼科学会的委托，他编写了《中国眼科全书》的预防眼科篇。

1924 年毕业于北洋海军医学堂，专攻眼科。在津短期行医，即赴法国留学，在波尔多医科大学眼科深造。1年后返津，在法籍眼科医生卢梭望所办防盲会任医师，从事眼病治疗及砂眼预防工作。后开办天津第一所眼病治疗机构——防盲医院，任院长。并陆续在天津、泊镇、秦皇岛、芦台、廊坊等地及津浦铁路沿线各站等处增设分诊所。其对眼肌学和有关眼病的颅脑神经学颇有研究，编写专门论著多部。中华人民共和国建国后，曾任河北医学院及中国医学科学院血液病研究所眼科教授，天津市眼科医学会主任委员。

张锡祺（1898-1960），福建惠安人。青少年时期，在日本半工半读，1925年毕业于千叶医科大学。1927年在台湾开设光华眼科医院，积极参加反对日本帝国主义侵略斗争。1930年回到上海，创办上海光华眼科医院。 抗战胜利后，任东南医学院院长。1949年底东南医学院迁至安徽，他把光华眼科医院和另一所分院的全部财产捐献国家，于1951年应邀出任安徽医学院院长。上世纪50年代初被评为一级教授。1956年11月加入中国农工民主党，1958年10月在农工党安徽省第一次代表大会上当选为农工党安徽省第一届委员会主任委员，第七届农工党中央委员。1957年加入中国共产党。曾担任第一、二届安徽省人大代表，第二届全国人大代表，安徽省人民委员会委员。还曾担任过中科院安徽分院副院长。有《眼底病图谱》等著作及论文存世。

广东台山人，中国现代眼科学的主要奠基人之一，眼科学家和医学教育家。曾任中山医科大学眼科中心名誉主任，毕生从事医学教育事业，建立教育、医疗、科研与防盲的综合眼科中心，致力于中国眼科史的研究。主要论著有《眼的化学构造》、《中国眼科之外科手术》《眼科学》《中国人的屈光状况》等。 重视人才培养，教书育人，培养了我国第一批眼科研究生，主编高等院校教材《眼科学》，创办中山眼科中心，为医疗、教学、科研和防盲建立了良好基地，造就出一批眼科优秀医师。他一生勤奋、治学严谨，通晓多国浯言，发表科学论文百余篇，蜚声中外，国际视觉和眼科研究会议曾授予“特殊贡献奖”。

Swedish ophthalmologist, born on July 23, 1899, in copping, malaren, scherer;Died on September 17, 1986, lund.He graduated from karolinska institute in medical science in 1922.He qualified as a doctor in 1927.In 1933, sjoger described his syndrome in his doctoral dissertation severe keratoconjunctivitis.In 1925, he described three cases of salivary gland atrophy associated with dry eyes, dry mouth, and vaginal dryness.In 1957, sjogren became an associate professor at the university of gothenburg and was made an honorary professor in 1961.In 1951 he was elected honorary member of the Australian ophthalmology society, honorary member of the American rheumatic society in 1970, honorary member of the svensk rematoroniak society of forensic medicine and honorary member of the royal college of surgeons of Glasgow in 1976.sjogren's syndrome= is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by conjunctivitis and dry mouth.

张文山（1901-1982），我国知名眼科教授和有造诣的青光眼专家。湖南长沙人。先入湖南湘雅医学院，后入上海圣约翰大学医学院，1929年毕业。 曾任青岛信义医院、重庆中央医院、南京中央医院主治医师。1947-1948年在美国宾夕法尼亚大学留学。1948年回国，任佛山循道医院眼科主任。1951年后，历任第一军医大学、吉林医科大学、白求恩医科大学教授。对青光眼有研究，是前房角镜检查法在我国应用的引进者。在国内首先将前房角镜检查技术用于临床。 在大江南北讲学，培训、推广青光眼前房角镜检查应用技术。参与编写毕华德主编的《眼科全书》第一卷，撰有《原发性进行性虹膜萎缩》等论文。

张福星（1902-1975），眼科学专家，一级教授。1929年毕业于上海圣约翰大学医学院，同年赴美国留学。曾任附属一院眼科主任、副院长、解放军总医院外科部主任兼眼科主任，是中国眼科学领域开拓者之一。

潘作新（1903-1983），山东掖县(今莱州市)人。著名眼科专家，一级教授。 1930年，毕业于北京协和医学院，留任医师、主治医师。1936年，赴奥地利维也纳大学医学院进修，任研究员。回国后，历任中国红十字会救护总队第十一中队队长、西北医学院教授、南京中央医院眼科主任。1947年，任山东大学医学院教授兼附属医院眼科主任，后任青岛医学院附属医院院长、青岛医学院副院长、院长。主持的“对角膜内皮 细胞观察的研究”，获山东省和青岛市科技成果奖。 主要论著有《眼内恶性色素瘤眼外蔓延二例》、《睫状体上皮细胞增生及睫状体上皮细胞瘤的组织学观察》、《虹膜色素瘤》等。1948年首创切断睑板校正睑内翻的“潘氏手术”沿用至今。

眼科学家，被誉为中国的眼科之父。抗日战争期间发现沙眼和角膜病是当时致盲的重要原因。在对大量沙眼患者普查的基础上首创以早期血管翳为诊断早期沙眼的依据。1940年代在国内开展和推广角膜移植术。长期从事教学工作，培养出数以百计的高级专业人才。主编国内第一本中文版眼科学教材，并编写中级眼科学以解决中级教学的需要。
